Only eleven bank bankruptcies have occurred in Canada since 1867 to present day.  The Farmer’s Bank of Canada had incorporated in 1904 but by 1910 suspended operations. Upon investigation it was determined that the general manager had made false and fraudulent claims to obtain its certificate from the Treasury Board. The trend continued in its operations which spelled its doom.
