The City of Toronto has gone through many changes over the years. Certain buildings have stood the test of time and are dwarfed by the towers that surround them. Others have disappeared altogether. This series includes both to show the ever-changing face of the City of Toronto.

The Otto Higel Co. Ltd was founded in 1869 by Otto Higel, manufacturing pianos and organ supplies.

The Otto Higel Co. Ltd was founded in 1869 by Otto Higel, manufacturing pianos and organ supplies. He moved to Canada in 1889 and worked under F. Koth. He then purchased the company and in 1901 consolidated with Augustus Newell & Co. By 1912 the company had 450 workers. The Higel family retained control until 1938. By 1944 business dwindled and the company ceased to exist. In 1981 the building was demolished.
