Toronto Board Of Trade
Northeast corner of Front St & Yonge St 1900 vs 2018
The merging of the Board of Trade with the Corn Exchange brought about the need for a larger building. An initial budget of $200,000 (current value $6.5million) was set aside. Upon completion the buildings cost overruns amounted to an extra $140,000.
The Toronto Board of Trade occupied the building from 1892 – 1914 when it was sold. When the TTC formed in 1921, it occupied the building until 1958. Later that year the structure was demolished. In the 1960's many other buildings along Front St faced the same end.
